a prayer for first responder families this holiday season

Earlier this week I shared this post with a prayer for our first responder families this December. I wanted to share it here on the blog, too, so that you can easily save and share it if social media isn’t really your thing.

I love December and the holidays, but it can also be really difficult as a police wife. As I go to the Christmas parities and partake in holiday traditions without my officer (as he works or sleeps because #nightshift) it stings a little. This is my prayer for all of you that are in the same boat, too.

Merry Christmas, fellow thin line families! Thank you for sharing your hero with your community. You are seen, loved, and appreciated!

Heavenly Father, today I come to You alongside all of my fellow first responder families this December, asking for You to be especially present in our homes and our hearts this holiday season. As we go about our holiday traditions and festivities, some with our hero and some without them as they work, we ask You to keep us especially close. Remind us that it’s okay to feel both loved and lovely, grateful and disappointed, and excited and exhausted. No matter where our minds and moods are at, let our hearts remain hopeful and focused on You. Give us strength and grace and energy and patience to attend the holiday parties, lighting ceremonies, and Christmas services alone. Let us find joy in the little things and cherish each moment that our family does get together. Thank You for choosing our family to live a life of service. Thank You for equipping us with everything we need to not just survive in this life but to thrive. Thank You, especially, for keeping our heroes safe. Thank You for loving us exactly how we are and for coming to walk beside us and in front of us on this thin line, especially during the holiday season.
