there is joy ahead, even though you must endure trials

Verse:
1 Peter 1:6-7 says “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Devo:
Trials. We all have them. I, for one, often dread them. But God is telling us to…be glad about them?

When we face trials our faith is tested. And when we remain faithful, even when it’s tough (especially when it’s tough) we are richly rewarded. As LEOWs we often face trials that are different than our sisters or friends or coworkers. Our marriages face trials like shift work and overtime, missing holidays and birthdays and coming home late to a cold dinner. Sometimes it can be easier to throw up our hands and say, enough!

But when we remain faithful and lean in towards our spouse and our God, our faith and our marriage becomes stronger and God’s glorification becomes louder.

Prayer:
Lord, I know that I will face trials. I know that life is not always easy but loving You always is. I ask that you help guide my spouse and I through the trials of life in a way that strengthens our faith and our marriage and glorifies You. When I am tempted to tap out, please remind me of Your goodness and help me lean in to You. Help me to live a life and nurture a faith that proclaims Your goodness.
