book review {crossing the thin blue line}

Happy July, friends! For this month’s book review we’re talking about Lisa Harper Lerner’s book, Crossing the Thin Blue Line.

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Lisa and Chuck last month at one of Bless the Badge’s LEOW workshops (read my review here). The Lerner’s are just as amazing in person as you would think! Chuck retired from 30 years as a police officer, and Lisa is a chaplain and founder of Bless the Badge. The investment both of them have in our blue community is incredible. All of the workshops and conferences that Bless the Badge offers are free, and they travel all around the country in order to lend a hand and share their faith with other LEOWs and officers.

Crossing the Thin Blue line is essentially a biography of Lisa’s life. It is a raw testimony of her and Chuck’s marriage, their journey in a law enforcement career, and her and her family’s walk with Jesus. Rarely do I read things so honest and vulnerable, and this book puts a magnifying glass on what Lisa has gone through and the struggles and triumphs her family has faced. I also love that she starts each of her chapters with a Bible verse. I downloaded this book on my Kindle and read it in a matter of hours-I just couldn’t put it down! It tugs at your heart strings and offers encouragement in a way that not many books do.

You can find Lisa’s book on Kindle or paperback here. It’s also carried at Barnes & Noble and available at Bless the Badge events. Lisa shared that profits from this book go right back into her ministry-how special is that!
