10 verses for leows who are feeling down

Last week we shared some sayings and quotes that serve as little ‘pick me ups’ for when we’re feeling down (find that post here and our Pinterest board here). As promised, here’s our top 10 favorite bible verses for when we need a little extra encouragement:

  • “I loved you at your darkest.” [Romans 5:8]
  • “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” [John 14:1]
  • “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” [Psalm 61:2]
  • “Cling to what is good.” [Romans 12:9]
  • “Take heart, for I have overcome the world.” [John 16:33]
  • “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” [Psalm 27:13]
  • “Though the mountains may crumble my unfailing love for you will not be shaken.” [Isaiah 54:10]
  • “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” [Jeremiah 1:5]
  • “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” [Psalm 91:4]
  • “I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born.” [Isaiah 66:0]

As always, these verses are also more powerful when they are read with their chapter. However, we’ve found that a sticky note with one of these verses slapped on the kitchen counter can go a long way when we’re having a rough day. What are some of your favorite verses for when you need some reminders of God’s goodness? Share them with us in the comments below.
