Verse:
Exodus 33:14 says: And the Lord said “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest-everything will be fine for you.”
Devo:
This part of Exodus has always been a favorite story of mine, because it depicts so clearly God’s love and protection of His children. What I love the most about verse 14 is the word PERSONALLY. It is a direct promise that not only will the Lord provide protection and love and rest, but He will do so DIRECTLY. The amount of personal, intimate involvement God has with each of His children blows me away each and every time I think about it.
This past month has been a hard one for my family. Our town has had several officer involved shootings, and it seems most nights when I send my LEO to work I am met with the news of another drive by, another stand off, another frightening situation. I lay in bed worrying. And waiting. And praying. And I reminded of this verse, which promises a personal escort by the best guard and companion possible-our God.
Prayer:
Lord, I reach out to you weary and worried. I feel physically tired and emotionally spent, and fearful for a world that seems to be deteriorating more and more each day. But then I am reminded of Your goodness and Your presence in our lives. I call out to You a thousand words of gratitude, for You have laid Your hand of protection on my officer so many times. I ask that You will remind us of your presence in the times we need it the most, and help me strive to deepen our relationship each day.
