Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is quickly approaching-it’s this coming Thursday the 9th! If you’re like wait, didn’t we just have this? you’re probably thinking of Thank A Police Officer Day, which is in September. Both days are a great excuse to show our LEOs a little extra love, especially in this rough climate!
I’m always baking goodies for my LEO’s squad, and LEAD is the perfect time to do more of that! I have several recipes here on the blog, like my homemade thin blue line brownies and easy boxed thin blue line brownie sandwiches if you want to whip up some goodies to send to your station.
I also always seem to go back to a few tried and true recipes from bloggers that are much more accomplished in the kitchen than I am! Some of my favorite goodies to make and send to the department (and fan favorites from the officers there!) are these giant oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, Cadbury cookies (you can sub m&ms or chocolate chips), and Christmas crack (but since it’s January we’ll just call it salted toffee crackers!).
If baking isn’t really your thing, consider purchasing some granola bars, liquid IV, cold brews, energy drinks, or trail mix to send to the station. Ask your LEO what they suggest, but a box of packaged Costco snacks is always a safe bet!
And if the thought of buying a bunch of extra goodies when grocery prices are already through the roof makes you queasy, head to last year’s post, which was all about how to show your support without spending any money. One of the easiest ways to show blue love is by sharing a simple graphic like these ones on social media. Save your favorite and share share share it to let our LEOs know they’re seen and appreciated!
I’ve created free printables for several years now, and my favorite is this little prayer. It can be attached to a small treat or gift, or just given by itself! Feel free to download them and print them for law enforcement in your area. There’s several different versions below, depending on which title you’re looking for! If you don’t see the one you’re looking for, the general “LEO” one is at the bottom.
